My Chosen Star Image

I have decided to base my star image of three popular Alternative rappers, Asap Rocky, Azelia Banks and Tyler the creator, I have already talked about their star images in my blogs so I wouldn't mention it in this post but I would like to mention how these rappers are represented in the media, two of my artist are represented in both juxtaposition ways whilst the remaining artist is seems to fit right in the middle of both these two representation. 

Alternative Rappers Representation Spectrum 

 Since Tyler is the represented as "The Worst of The Worst" in the media I will study his representation.

Tyler The Creator Media Representation 

In the media Tyler is represented as a narcissistic public nuisance who's action not only puts him in danger but also puts others around him in danger, through the actions he makes when featured in the media it is clear that he has no regards for the offensive things he says and does, one big contributing medium used to asses Tyler's media persona will be his twitter account.

Tyler's Twitter account is a breading nest for disrespectful comments aimed at other public figures and even religious beliefs; here are some of his worst tweets.

 In Tegan's and Sara's response they had stated that people view Tyler's comment and behavior as "cool" this of course is the desired reaction from his demographic, his demographic of course consisting of teenagers of both genders, teenagers can relate to Tyler's star image and media representation because they themselves are going thought a rebellious stage of their lives and would view anyone who behaves like Tyler as "cool". The natural reaction of those who are not in the demographic of Tyler the creator would be similar to those of Tegan and Sara, lets take parents as an example; parents will see Tyler and his type of music has taboo and will discourage their children from purchasing and listening to his music but due to their rebellious behavior the teens will go against their parents wish. This isn't exactly the representation that I want my coverstar to portray; I want my coverstar to portray a much more watered down representation similar to this. I want my coverstar to be edgy but not so edgy the that parents are threatened by my coverstar, I also want my coverstar to be an inspiration to their fans, I want my cover star to be represented as the bigger person in any argument and thereby once again restoring the faith and appreciation of parents in the Alternative rap scene.
