Question 7

7. Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Looking back at my preliminary task I can definitely see that I had made a lot of progress, not only in my practical work but in my written work too, my preliminary blog was sloppy and had barely any post I had barely done any research or proper planning for my product, and although my final piece was not as bad as I though it would be it wasn't that great either, it seems like back then I had cared to much about creating the product instead of researching into the conventions or planning the product, this was one of the issues that I wanted to tackle whilst doing my actual task and I believe I had. I had made sure to do intensive research into my target audience, the conventions I am going to be using, how I want my audience to react to my product and why I had chosen to do what I did.
Another progress that I have made through the preliminary task and my actual task is in production, in my school magazine I had just asked a random classmate to puss for a picture for my magazine and had not even planned on where to shoot the photographs or how my model should pose, but in my actual task I had planned two photo shoots for my two models who I had already asked in advance if they could model for me, I had also planned on the outfit, set, lighting, camera and even posses I wanted for my photoshoot. Much like photography fonts also played a big part in the progression I had made in my media work since the start of my preliminary task, back in the preliminary task I didn't understand the importance of fonts let alone how to use them successfully to get the best outcomes for my product, in my preliminary task I had just slapped on random fonts onto my product instead of planning on where I wanted them, what size I wanted them and why I wanted them like this; this made my work look very unprofessional and messy but thank god I had finally gotten to understand the beauty of fonts and their importance to everyday publications, for my actual task I had researched into what fonts go well with each other and what fonts would suit the tone and genre of my product.
Overall it seemed that planning and production where my two major issues in my preliminary task and I had conquered them successfully I look forward to future task and to see the progress that I will make between this piece of work and any future piece of work that I produce.

Question 6

Question 6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this pruduct?

Photoshop

Before I had started this project I had began to use Photoshop, just to brush up on my skills after we had created our school magazines for our preliminary task and it didn't take me long before I feel in love with the program, my Photoshop skills had also gradually improved since I had started this project, for example the differences in quality and professional look between my original draft and my final draft is colossus. All together I really loved using this program and will definitely keep using it after this course is finished. From Photoshop I have learnt how to crop pictures successfully, use the curves to change tones and contrast, layer images on top of each other and use colors to blend into the human skin, these were all tricky to learn but still quite fun, I am quite proud of my self for learning all my Photoshop skills by my self without help from teachers or videos.

Indesign
Wow using Indesign has definitely been a rollercoaster, although I found it very similar to Photoshop in the way it functions, I found it very difficult to understand; some of the tools either had a different name or were missing and things like that were what caused me to takes ages to complete one simple task on Indesign like changing the opacity of a text without taking the opacity of the text box as well or example. Eventually after lots of practice and useful youtube videos I was getting a hang of how to properly use Indesign and by the time it came for me to create my double page spread I  dubbed my self as some sort of a "pro". From Indesgn I have learnt the importance of a good font set, I have learnt how to space fonts, change the coulours and transparency of text and increase the length of a font as well as paragraphing and drop caps, most of theses I learnt from youtube videos but some of these I had worked out my self and I am still very proud of my self.
